I would like that there would be a landscape orientation on a dedicated iPad The Metronome App.

I have been requesting this feature for a while … hope this will be implemented soon as I am using the app with other apps that run in landscape mode so it will be easier for me with the way which I use it. Thank you!

If ur app had a landscape mode for iPad I would use it, I found other met apps that I use because they do work in landscape mode
The fact that Sounbrenner has REFUSED to address this issue, after many requests over many years, and despite the fact that it is REQUIRED as per Applesy User Experience guidelines is proof that they don't give a shit about their customers. They took my money (for a pulse) promised they would fix it, and then they basically ignored it. The thing is unusable for me without landscape mode. This is a matter of handicapped user access, not a matter of esthetics.but sounbrenner doesn't give a shit about disabled users.
Hey, we'd love to build landscape mode (and every other feature requested) but the reality is we only have so many software engineers and it is a pretty big project. I'm certain at some point in the future we will ship it but there is no ETA, it might still take quite some time depending how fast we can scale our engineering team.
Come on...Almost every app has this feature. It's only the GUI layout and I'm pretty sure that there are some automatic features in the API and/or coding tools that help accomplish this!
Oh come on, that is nonsense. That's what I mean with Soundbrenner bullshitting its customers. You can add landscape mode literally in minutes — you don't need to hire extra engineers to basically flip your layout. What you mean to say is that you don't give a shit about accessibility. Be honest about it already, sheesh.
Haha I love your conspiracy theory but as one would expect, we want to make the best possible product and have happy customers. We do in fact not have any sinister reasons to withold useful features that are easy to build from our customers ;) Believe me - it is in our best interest to make the app as good as possible as fast as possible as we can. I wish it could be build in minutes, but if I tell our engineering team to build a landscape mode in minutes they will think I'm an idiot. It really is just an engineering bandwidth issue. But I am sharing your comments with our engineers to re-evaluate how much work it really is and how we could fit it in the 2022 roadmap. Cheers,
After a year of requests and still no offer of landscape mode...I am graciously begging you to do so. Please.
We have started to work on a prototype. Would be curious to hear the opinion of everybody who voted and commented on this feature request: I assume you primarily care about the "Player" screen on iPad being widescreen. Is that assumption correct? Things like widescreens settings on iPad, as well as a widescreen iPhone UI in general, is less important. Correct?
Good to hear! Yes for me the main priority would be the player in landscape mode. It wouldn't be as necessary for putting together a playlist or something - just mainly the player. This would be such a huge help. Glad to hear it's getting a prototype. I'd be glad to best a beta-tester if needed!
Good to hear indeed! For me, it would be nice to have all screens in landscape mode, especially on iPad. My iPad is placed on a stand while I'm playing drums, and it's inconvenient to rotate it to change settings or options. But it's a good start, I keep hope! ;)
This is the current design: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t56red2k8wpcq7e/Screen%20Shot%202022-03-04%20at%2021.42.06.png?dl=0 Ideally, if our engineers can do it, you could load songs and setlists via the green bubble even when in widescreen mode. You can adjust time signature/subdivision/etc. too - however, if you want to go to the Library to edit setlists, Settings, etc. you would have to rotate your phone back to vertical to get the bottom navigation menu
Yes that is what I'm talking about! I'm liking it. To even have that would be helpful. Once we have the Setlist in place then there are no need to change at least for us. Occasionally there might be but it's good to have it there in landscape work and go from song to song and make any changes necessary. That's so great! Thanks for the hard work and hope to see continued progress.
We actually use an iPad and I am not in a place right now but I will definitely try that link and see how it works for us!
Sorry it's just a screenshot of the design for now in the link
But if all screens could be landscape, I would be in heaven. :) The screenshots look pretty nice! !!! ;)
Yes I understand - just want to see what it looks like an the iPad. Thank you <@Florian Simmendinger%%user%%c4c24f1a-e50f-42c0-b750-ddc579395057>.
Landscape orientation on iPad would be great. But you also need to increase the font size. I use the app and wearable for set lists and can't see the tiny font on stage. Better yet would be a floating, size-adjustable window for the app. It doesn't need to take up the entire iPad window, especially with the tiny font.
@Wiley: Already wrote specifications for a 30% larger font size in the designs for the setlist - that was part of the design change :) Agree it was too small on iPad. Here's a comparison from before & after https://www.dropbox.com/s/nvy0ohhtd926gmd/Screen%20Shot%202022-03-06%20at%2019.56.59.png?dl=0
The bigger font looks great. I can't wait to get the updated app. Thanks.
Changed the status to "In Progress"
I have also requested landscape option. But I would need the app to run in split screen/multitask mode on iPad because I want to run Metronome in conjunction with my Pads app.

Howzit going, any progress? (:
We finished the designs - currently the development is scheduled for Q4 but subject to change https://www.dropbox.com/s/dkypisdsb4tr2gv/Screenshot%202022-07-25%20at%2009.42.30.png?dl=0
Any plans on making landscape mode for iPhone?
Yeah it's already designed for iPhone as well - just waiting for our engineers to fit it in the roadmap https://www.dropbox.com/s/lwz72iktnrh20gi/Screenshot%202022-10-25%20at%2015.00.28.png?dl=0
Please also make sure that it will be working upside down as well. Currently, the main screen works upside down, but any change of setting (e. g. subdivisions, change of measure) only works in upright position, not upside down!
Hi, I have just tried to turn the iPad upside down and changing the subdivisions etc. works just fine. What kind of device are you using where you are experiencing this bug?
Hi, this is happening on an iPhone 8 Plus with iOS 16.1 installed. Attached four images: 01: iPhone normal portrait mode, hardware button at bottom, metronome screen / 02: same direction of iPhone, subdivision screen / 03: iPhone turned upside down, hardware button at top, metronome screen / 04: same direction of iPhone, subdivision screen.
Might be an issue with iPhone itself, I just discovered that the home screen is also not turning when putting the phone upside down.
🤔OK I see. I personally haven't tested with a home button iPhone in a while since they are rare these days. Newer iPhones starting from iPhone X are no longer be able to be used upside down due to the camera notch. I will ask our developers to try out iPhone 8 upside down and see if there is any problem
Eine Option, die App in Querformat nutzen zu können wäre sehr hilfreich!
Hallo, ja :) Ich verknüpfe deinen Vorschlag mit der englischen Variante

Adding support for full rotation please when the iPhone is upside down. I sit my phone on my music stand and rotation would allow me to charge my phone while I leave the app open during practice.
By the way, we have completed designs for landscape mode on phone and iPad. On phone the idea is the UI elements will get much bigger (e.g. accent markers, BPM number, next song, etc.) but in exchange we have to remove the buttons to make changes on the fly. So you can kind of set things up, then put the phone sideways to get a bigger UI while you actually play. On iPad, the screen is big enough to do it all at once of course. Here are some screenshots. Just a headsup, this is still going to take a while to develop.
I look forward to seeing it in the app! Looking really good
Finally ! Thank you so much!
Will the new version also support iPad multitasking? I'd like to be able to quickly slide the metrome over forScore in order to adjust the tempo without having to switch apps. I find that forScore takes a few seconds to wake up when switching back and forth. (I believe one of the previous obstacles to implementing multitasking was that the app has to support all orientations. )
Interesting. I've not been able to use my Pulse due to lack of landscape mode since I got it two years ago. Wonder if this going to take another two years to finally make it into the app. I'm not holding my breath.
Looking forward to the landscape mode; I will use the app a lot more when it's introduced. I really like the jog-wheel for adjusting tempo but having everything sideways is a bit farcial. (I'm swapping between the metronome and guitar tab apps which are best viewed in landscape.)
Looking forward to landscape mode on iPad. Love you Soundbrenner. I love everything about this app.

Hello?!?
I fired the app up yesterday after a couple of years of disuse. Was surprised at how many esoteric features there are (connect a wearable, Ableton link, MIDI, foot pedal inputs, etc.) but that the app still lacks this fundamental option. I practice guitar with an Android tablet on a stand. My other practice apps can go into landscape mode, which is highly preferable for viewing music notation on a stave. This is the only app that won't do it. My options are to learn to use the app sideways, or flip the tablet around every time I want to interact with the metronome, then flip it back again when I'm done. I gave up and deleted it. It's laughable really, especially for a $60/year app
I would love to see landscape mode! Do we have any idea if this will happen or not?
As you can tell from this thread, it's been more than 4 years and there's still no landscape mode. The developers have lied and kept us hanging for all that time. Everyone once in a while, this "Florian" person will come here and promise that there will be landscape mode any day now, and then he fucks off again and nothing happens. for years! It's a garbage company with a garbage product. I tried selling mine, no professional musician was interested in this piece of cheap plastic.
Hey, it's very clear to me and everyone at Soundbrenner that this is a crucial feature. Our current main priority is to ship song sections which is also going to impact the player interface, so we figured it would be best to work on the player interface affter the song section feature has been complete. However, this still is going to take quite some time so I'll review it one more time with our team if we shouldn't squeeze in the landscape mode since it has been already fully designed.
Personally I'd find a usable metronome far more valuable than song sections. Others may be different though
I totally agree! The landscape feature is essential! I found other ways to manage the tempo of the music, because the Soundbrenner app never offered the landscape mode, despite all its promises!

On iPadOS 26, the app now rotates and works in landscape on my iPad. This didn’t work for me before, so this is a big improvement.
