Switch songs while app is in background with foot pedal

As an iPad user I want to be able to switch songs in my setlist (previous/next) via connected bluetooth foot switch while the app is in the background, so I can have another app (e.g. LightRider, which receives tempo from Soundbrenner via Ableton Link; or any setlist app) in the foreground.
