It would be great if multiple IOS devices on the same wifi to sync to the same metronome click. For instance, if I had two band members each with iphones and the app up, it would be useful for the click to sync between both devices either to hear the click on the same beat or utilize midi clock. You could have one device become the master and slave the other devices. This would allow for a lot of functionality of Ableton Link without needing an Ableton rig for only click track/midi clock.
Hi Bryan, this is exactly how Ableton Link works. If you have for example two iOS devices (also works with more) and they are connected to the same WiFi network, then they can both enable Ableton Link. Now the two metronomes will be in sync with each other. Try it out and let me know if I am missing something (Ableton Link is free and doesn't require any Ableton hardware)
Only thing that is still a challenge is Ableton Link requires Ableton to be run from somewhere like a computer. I play sets with 6 songs with different tempos so you need to set all that up on the computer through Ableton. That's a lot of excess work that the Metrenome app can easily do on it's own. Needing to add Ableton simply for click is kind of a whole thing I'd like to avoid if possible. Am I missing something though, to use Ableton Link can you run it without Ableton running via computer or use one IOS device as the master to slave Ableton? So, could I have my set list ready to go in Metrenome App sending those clock signals to Ableton and if Ableton was running somewhere on the same wifi it would pick that up and link it to other devices?
Hey, Ableton Link does not require to run Ableton - you can just use it via our app on two mobile devices :) It will then sync the two apps as long as they are on the same Wifi https://support.soundbrenner.com/hc/en-us/articles/235725828-Ableton-Link-how-to-sync-Soundbrenner-Pulse-Core If you want more complicated things like automatic tempo changes you may be able to accomplish this by running an instance of Ableton on a desktop device but for the simple solution this is not required
Thank you so much! I thought you needed to have Ableton running to use link on the IOS device, this is a game changer!
