For compound times, such as 6/8, it would be nice to be able to set the bpm to the beat (e.g. a dotted crotchet) rather than a quaver.
Hey, so if I understand you correctly, you want to set a 6/8 time signature but feel it as 2 beats per bar, with each beat equal to a dotted quarter note (which is 3 eighth notes). Right now, it defaults to 6 beats per bar (each an eighth note), which feels too fast and granular. Technically, we already support this—you can set 2 beats per bar and make each beat subdivided into 3 eighth notes, which gives you exactly that "compound feel". In the meantime, you could try manually setting 2 beats with triplet subdivisions, or use a 6/8 bar with 2 beats and 3 subdivisions per beat—it achieves the same result. But of course a proper subdivision setting would be better...
