Perhaps this is already a feature of your IEM.. Sounds like a great product. I have a few of your products and am impressed…. One question that was not, I think, clearly explained in your video… I understand that the IEMs can function as wired IEMs, and do offer 35dB of active sound protection from ambient sound…this is all great. What I am wondering is, do they have the additional [ fantastic if present ] ability to act as monitors for ambient sound…i.e. not wired, for example…I am performing on the drums, the place is loud, it would be fantastic to have some form of compression and threshold amplification that would transmit the AMBIENT sound of the band performing, contain it at a safe dB level, and allow me to hear our performance better than just passive 35dB blocking earplugs. This would require microphones in each IEM, and probably an app allowing EQ, threshold, compression, etc. Probably a bit ask… I know. But, hey….there is huge market for such a thing. Many people cannot expect to plug their IEMs into the board to hear the live mix. In addition, think about the larger market…industry, and frankly you could extend this product to be a form of hearing aid…. The apple Pro Ear Pod II do have something like this function—with their “Transparency Mode,” and they have gotten some very good press…but it is not designed for musicians. In addition, and you [should] love this... "corrective hearing"...like glasses for musicians... Musicians need to hear stuff...Yes, check. Musicians engage in an artform that is actually toxic to their sense of hearing...check again, sadly. Many musicians are somewhat deaf...What? That means loss of some frequencies or ASYMETRIC hearing--'my high-hat ear' is shot... You could take advantage of the above mentioned features and by use of a well programmed app, provide hearing testing [!wow], serial documentation of hearing tests [wowzer!!] and the ability to adjust each ear's EQ and Volume [compression, threshold] so as to CORRECT hearing. I know, I'm a guiness. Please reply to me. Thoughts. Please reply….as you can see, I have put a bit of work into this communication. Thanks Chris aka Dr.Um
Hi Chris, thanks for your thoughtful suggestion! This is currently not supported, since the IEMs dont contain microphones. Building this feature in generation 2 would require significant R&D but it is definitely a cool idea that would be super valuable. I'm looking forward to see how many comments & upvotes your idea gets! I also own Apple AirPods Pro 2 with transparency mode and totally get what you mean. Cheers,
